LIST OF SPEAKERS

Dennis T. Avery has been a senior fellow of the Hudson Institute since 1989.  From 1980 to 1988 he was a senior analyst at the US Department of State.  He writes a weekly column on environmental issues distributed to the Knight-Ridder-Tribune chain of newspapers.  He is coauthor, with S. Fred Singer, of the New York Times bestseller Unstoppable Global Warming—Every 1,500 Years (Rowman & Littlefield, 2007).

Joseph D’Aleo is executive director of Icecap, an organization and website devoted to climate change issues (http://icecap.us).  He has more than three decades of experience as a meteorologist and climatologist.  He was a professor of meteorology for six years at Lyndon State College, and from 1981 to 1988 was the first director of meteorology at the cable TV Weather Channel.  He was chief meteorologist at WSI from 1989 to 2004.

Duane D. Highley is Director of Power Production at Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI).  He has worked for AECI since 1983.  Highley has a BS degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Missouri—Rolla.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in Missouri.

Marlo Lewis Jr., PhD, is a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), where he writes on global warming, energy policy, and other public policy.  Before joining CEI in 2002, he served as director of external relations at the Reason Foundation in Los Angeles, CA.  During the 106th Congress, he served as staff director of the House Government Reform Subcommittee on National Economic Growth, Natural Resources, and Regulatory Affairs.

Craig Loehle, PhD, obtained training in natural resources management and mathematical ecology, with a PhD from Colorado State University in 1982.  He has authored 116 peer-reviewed publications on ecology, forestry, modeling, statistics, and climate, as well as four books.  After spending 14 years at the US Department of Energy laboratories, he has been employed the past 11 years with the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, which serves the research needs of the wood products industry.

Anthony R. Lupo, PhD, is a Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Missouri—Columbia.  He earned his BS degree in Meteorology from the State University of New York at Oswego, and his MS and PhD degrees from Purdue University.  His research has been in the areas of large-scale atmospheric dynamics, climate dynamics and climate change.  He has several peer-reviewed publications in each of these areas.  As a Fulbright Scholar in 2004, he studied climate change at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

Marc Morano is the brains and brawn behind the recently established Climate Depot website (http://climatedepot.com).  The New York Times profiles Morano as using science as a “political battering ram” in his efforts to refute anthropogenic global warming.  He previously served as communications director for the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.  He is a former journalist with Cybercast News Service.
